Fox News Invasion
To my horror I have just discovered one of Israel’s worst mistakes in history and it is happening in the present. HOT cable has decided to switch from CNN to Fox News for their international news channel.
While I am not a big fan of CNN, I can’t stand the blatantly right-wing news content -and I use the term loosely - that Fox News broadcasts. How will I know what is going on in Iraq with the President’s PR network as my only source of news?
No. No. No. There can be no good from this mess.
From now on we can definitely expect to watch a more Pro-Israel news cast but for any other world news with a touch of objectivity you will just have to turn off the TV, find your reflection and start making things up.
If I had it my way, I would broadcast a 24 hour cable channel of The Daily News; at least my tears would be from laughter and not despair.

CNN is hated here for its overtly pro-Palestinian stance during the Second Intifada and its appalling glorification of suicide bombers….so when HOT decided not to renew, there was no huge outburst of customer protest like there was when HOT tried to cancel BBC Prime.
FOX certainly isn’t “fair and balanced” by any means, but maybe HOT figures if they have FOX in one corner and the other blatantly anti-Israel “news channel” BBC in the other corner, maybe their biases will cancel each other out?
Dunno…I watch France 24 in English which is the most balanced news channel I’ve found so far….and I found out why in ulpan–a French Jewish student here for the summer is a “Communications” graduate who works for the French government—and apparently France does NOT think that monitoring its licensees is censorship. Part of her job at the Ministry is to verify that the news stations are objective in their coverage and not editorializing and putting in political content. What a concept!
