Thank you for the kind words! So what did you decide to do in the end? Have you also thought about running? The Jerusalem Marathon is March 16, there is a half, a 10k and even a 4.2k! It is a lot of fun!! Anyway, let us know if there is something else we can write about to inform you while in Israel!!

This was the most informative website ever! I really enjoyed reading Molly's description of the gyms and how it works only in Israel. We have moved to Jerusalem in October for 3 - 5 years(lived here before also). I need to exercise and couldn't make up my mind between Zumba, Yoga or just a proper gym workout. Coming from South Africa we are also spoiled with fantastic gyms at a reasonable good price. Thanks, I am really glad to have found your website.

The area around the UN Compound has a lot of nice apartments, many of which are rented by UN staffers. The "Caspi area" on Caspi street is nice; there are new apartments just a few blocks from the UN Compound in Arnona. I've met many UN staffers at Ramat Rachel, which has a good gym, great pool, good hours, parking and tennis courts.

Good luck, and welcome to Jerusalem.

Ridge,
When you get to Jerusalem you are welcome to come try the YMCA.
We are located on King David Street and we have some UN members already part of our club..
We have great fitness equipment and fun classes. In the spring we will be moving to a brand new sports center. Come check us out!

@Molly, again thanks for the response. I've got a contact at the UN that I've been corresponding with and he keeps missing my questions. I asked if there was lodging at the compound and he told me about him having an apartment. I'm not certain that means yes available or not. At any rate, I hope you're right, there is lodging at the compound. Thanks
@Sam, will contact you shortly. Thanks

Ridge- The UN Compound in near Tapiot, Arnona and closest to Armon HaNatziv, so those are the best areas to live. I thought the UN provides you housing? The promenade can be a short run or if you go all through it a longer run. I have never gone all the way through it, but you can make a nice run in the area for a 5k up to a 10k, run to the old city and make it even longer. Just note, there are a lot of hills!

Molly, thanks for the quick response. I am a guy so the latter two gyms won't help. I'm looking for info on the first gym. Just to be sure, I take it there's no gym on the compound? Is that a fair statement? How long would the promenade allow me to run? What is the area called where the compound is located? Looking for an apartment as well.
